SoundSticks III is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 166.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Phenomenal Sound! I bought this set up I 2003 and hooked it up to my iMac. They were the first version Soundsticks so, they weren’t wireless but sounded phenomenal right out of the box! I have an enormous high end home theater/multi channel system that we all enjoy but I like to get away and do business in my office. I worked that 2.1 system everyday for a few hours here and there like you wouldn’t believe. I think that they have the best sounding and most beautiful clarity over any small speaker system I’ve heard. The subwoofer is an incredible 6” 40 watt sub to perform the way it does with great depth. Needless to say I played them to their fullest extent that they finally blew last year(2017). For components like that to last 14yrs is pretty good for as hard as I pushed them. I just haven’t got around to upgrading till now. I’ve been doing my homework and am going to get another HK Soundsticks set up to run with my 2 JBL Flip 4’s. I’m going to use my iPad to be my main source to run everything. I want to connect the HK’s wired to my iPad and my JBL’s I’ll Bluetooth to it and have a nice sounding 4.1 stereo setup to listen to in my office. My wife likes the sound of them and our JBL’s so much that she wants to get another identical speaker setup in the bedroom to the 55” and iPad as the source. I have the adapter to plug the iPad into the tv via HDMI. I’ll have the iPad act as my own cable box; Netflix, Apple TV, History, Local channels, etc. I’ve been working with electronics inside and out since I was a kid. Then I went to school for being a technician. I specialize in home audio/video for 30+ years and I’ll admit that it’s just like cars, they’re getting more and more complicated than they used to be. I think it’s time to go back to take a upgrading class. I’m always willing to help out the next person for some advice so, fell free to ask. I give the HK Soundsticks III Speaker system is a 5 star 2.1 system. It can take the abuse and last a pretty long time. If you blow them every 14yrs like me, toss them and buy another setup for $150. I’m surprised they don’t cost more but, that’s cool with me! Enjoy y’all! Great holiday present also!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great kit! I've used this kit for some time now, and it's connected to my TV as a 2.1 sound system. I really can't be bothered with satellite kit with wires and wireless that fails or gets interference. This gives great sound, good bass and is dead easy to set up. It must be good as I bought the first set 7 years ago, and have just got another as we've just moved into a place where we have two TV's. In a word, Brilliant!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best speaker option, every penny worth ! But a shame the cables in the later version of Soundsticks 3 are much shorter......And my first Soundstick 3 power knob on the subwoofer died after 3 years ,couldn't handle a daily on/off I suppose ......That shouldn't be the case with such an excellent product.

Can I connect to Bluetooth with this speaker?

Asked by: David076
Hello Kay, yes you can, I've got the regular non Bluetooth soundsticks but wanted BT capability, so I purchased the Philips:(mod.no.AEA2000) BT adaptor & it works brilliantly, ***you'll need an extra interconnect cable (L+R phono to 1/4inch jack) the mini jack that goes into headphone socket type!

Is it possible to extend the cabling between the two Tweeter speakers?

Asked by: F1Kobe
Hi, Thank you for your question. Partly possible, which means that you can only extend the phono cable by buying one online that extends it from the subwoofer, and the other speaker with volume controls is harder to extend. It is not impossible, however, you will need a technician that can measure and create a specialized cable for you (we do not have the specifications for the cable available). Contact our customer service if you need further information at customer.support@harman.com

The input cable which plugs in to the AU socket of the connecting device has become temperamental and will only produce sound if the head of the cable (by the jack) is held perfectly still in a certain position. How can this be fixed?

Why do my subwoofer turn itself off

Asked by: Holly Tooze
Hi Holly, and thank you for supporting Harman Kardon! Your Soundsticks III complies with the EuP regulations, which specify that speakers like yours, among many other products, must enter standby after a certain period of inactivity. So, if you play no sound and touch no button on the speakers, they will enter standby. One detail: if you turn the volume way up on the SSIII, and then control listening volume on your source, the result will often be that the input signal is becomes so weak that the speaker sees it as silence, and shuts off. The way to avoid this is of course to increase source volume to maximum, or close to max, then control listening volume on the SSIII touch pads. If you want want a speaker without this mandatory function, you can find a second-hand set of the earliest version of SSIII, which did not have this system, since it was built before the EuP regulations existed. You can also use the SSII, which of course never had this system, since it is older. It plays just like SSIII. I hope this helps.
