I have a BDS280 and also a Sabre SB35 soundbar. The volume control on the BDS handset does not adjust the volume on the Sabre, so I'm having to use two remote controls to operate Harman Kardon equipment instead of one. Is this normal or is there a fault?

Asked by: Mark44
Hi. This is normal. The volume control on your BDS system uses different volume remote codes compared to the SB35. But since your SB35 has a learning function, meant to permit it to be coded to respond to your TV remote control, you can instead choose to use this function to make the SB35 respond to the BDS remote instead. This will of course mean that if both devices are ON, both will respond simultaneously to a command, but it is possible to have what you ask for. We hope this helps.

My BDS 280 does not have a Bluetooth button and the Home menu does not show the Bluetooth option. How can I play music from a Bluetooth enabled devise - such as my computer - ? Thank you. xabier

Asked by: xabi
Xabier: That is odd, and, although I don't have a definitive answer (I did not have that problem or maybe, I just did not notice it, if I had it, I don't have that problem now, that is certain), I have two suggestions. 1) Check you BT ver ... Settings, System, Information -> more ... or something like that ... it will show up at the bottom left corner of a small two column table. Mine reads "BT ver: V116.0" ... this whole process and the answer may be slightly different if your firmware is at a different revision. Also you likely have an EU version of the system software. 2) Get the latest firmware installed (that was my first step, my system firmware is now at V2.86, yours may be different for the EU) ... use an internet connection to do that if you can, you need to have it on a internet connected network and Set System Upgrade to "Internet". (Note: I have the same BDS 280 here in the US, I did have a peculiarity in that it performed one additional upgrade that it did not find as necessary, go figure ... it did several upgrades in succession each time I checked for updates, - every time I set the System upgrade to "Internet", it checked for a new upgrade and then reset that "System upgrade" setting, (no explaining that) - so I'd have to enable it again, and it would check again, then on one pass it eventually said I was all up to date, I clicked OK ... lo and behold, it started another update ... I have no way to explain that, either... but I stopped checking ... was afraid it would never end (indefinite postponement), or that it would eventually mess up ... I did do 4 or 5 upgrades to get to 2.86) I guess I could try it again and see if the version changes! There is also a download, then use a USB stick drive approach to upgrading, but support is very light on the US site, if there is a version out there for me to download to a computer, then I think it is older, V2.78 (best guess based on the file name) ... so I did not see an easy way to get the latest US fw that way, but the Euro support site also has the Euro version - and i think the Eu site is more active and better maintained. Then of course (if you can get your BT working) you have two options to sync ... newer devices support the NFC touch method, my iPhone 5 did not ... so you sync from the external device in the usual way. Good Luck! -gene
